How to Avoid the Risks of Bundling

avoid the risks of bundling ecommerce

Retailers, etailers, service providers, and pretty much anyone who sells anything ever use bundling techniques to improve sales and make customers happy. After all, who wouldn’t want to receive a discount on more? The problem is that bundling comes with a unique set of problems that could hurt your sales in the long run. Becoming aware of the risks is the first step to avoiding them!

Diminished Value

When you combine two or more products and set a lower price for the bundle, you might see those items fly off the shelves and out of your warehouses. That sounds amazing, right? What kind of risk does that involve?

Now, try to sell those items individually and at the original price for each. The question on every buyer’s mind will be this: Why pay more for each when I can get both for less? In other words, you’ve affected the perceived value of every item in one swift motion.

Not only will buyers wonder why they have to pay more for the individual items, they’ll also wonder how much the markup is for everything else you sell. After all, if you can afford to take such a cut on those bundled items, then you must be making a whole lot of money on everything, right? Once that little seed is planted, it’ll grow into something ugly.

How to Fix It

With bundling an important part of sales, you can’t necessarily just vow never to do it again. Instead, you’ll need to be aware of the potential pitfalls and plan for them. How can you protect the perceived value of your products while still offering great deals for your favorite customers?

1. Bundle items you won’t sell again

Just as with discounts and clearance sales, items bundled at lower prices should be those you don’t intend to sell again. Bundles are great for ridding yourself of inventory to make room for more. You don’t need to worry what customers will think about those items at regular prices because you won’t ever offer them at those prices again.

2. Provide bundled items to loyal customers

If your bundled items are reserved only for those customers who have proven loyalty over time, then you won’t need to worry about the perceived value of your products. Those who’ve earned enough points or spent enough money to gain access to bundled prices will obviously be back for future purchases no matter what.

3. Only separate the bundles for replacements

This is only an option if the bundled objects really don’t work without each other. For instance, an MP3 player and headphones, or a laptop and charger cord. Should one part of the bundle break, buyers won’t care that the individual item is a little more expensive on its own than it was when purchased as part of the package.

Sunk Cost Effect

When you bundle services or events, buyers are actually less likely to use every item purchased. For instance, if you sell an pack of five yoga classes, those who buy aren’t likely to attend all five times. In fact, they may never make it past the first lesson. The same is true for a season pass to a theme park, tickets to sporting or entertainment events, technology services, and entry to webinars or online classes.

To the seller, this may seem like winning rather than losing. You’re making money on five when the buyer uses far fewer. What’s not to love? More cash for less work. The problem is that buyers end up dissatisfied with the services or events because they spend money for something they didn’t receive. Convincing them to purchase again is next to impossible.

How to Fix It

Again, you can combat this to ensure customers remain happy with your bundling options and come back for more.

1. Provide individual tickets for each event

If those customers have something to hold in their hand, it will represent the money they spent for the package or pass. If the cost isn’t immediately visible, buyers don’t feel as obligated to attend.

2. Offer the bundles to loyal customers

As with the bundling of products, the bundling of services or events could see better results if they’re only available to proven customers. Those who have used the service before or attended numerous events before will be more likely to keep making purchases.

3. Send timely reminders to buyers

If buyers select the bundle but then neglect to use the services, they may do so because they feel there is plenty of time. If you sent reminders to let them know how much time is left in their agreement or how many passes are still left for future events, they may be galvanized into action.

Keeping customers happy is the key here, not proving the value of the service. If buyers use the bundled services, they’ll feel they go their money’s worth. That means they’ll be more likely to make repeat purchases.

Will you continue offering bundled products or services? Which of these solutions might help you bring in more revenue? We’d love to know your thoughts, so leave us a comment!

What You Need to Brush Your Teeth

Why you Need Teeth Cleaning

Teeth cleaning involves the removal of dental plaque and tartar from ones teeth with the main intention being prevention of cavities, periodical diseases and gingivitis. If this hardened deposits known as tartar if allowed to accumulate on the teeth, it will eventually provide the favorable conditions for bacteria to form next to the gums. FOr all your cleaning and dental health needs see our new website Dentists Iowa City for complete details.

The main of professional cleaning is to leave the surface of teeth clean and smooth such that bacteria will not be able to stick on them and you will get a better chance of keeping your teeth clean during your normal daily home care. Why should you have your teeth cleaned?

Avoid Cavities

The whitish film that accumulates on your teeth is known as plaque and is the major cause of tooth decay. This acidic substance corrodes the tooth enamel and if it is not taken care of with time, it can lead to cavities. Plaque can be eliminated through brushing, dental cleaning and flossing.

Prevent Loss of Teeth

Gum infections, which begins with plaque built up, is a main cause of tooth loss in adults. As gum infections advance, plaque moves further down the tooth where it can damage the supporting bone in your jaw, making your teeth to loosen and fall out. Fortunately, the chances of this taking place can be greatly minimized through regular teeth cleaning combined with proper oral hygiene habits.

Enhance your Smile

Taking coffee, tea and wine or smoking can stain your teeth. Teeth cleaning can eliminate built up stains and leave you with freshly cleaned teeth. The result will be a whiter and better smile.

Freshen your Breath

Good dental hygiene is the ideal way to prevent bad breath. Even if you crush and floss daily, going for cleaning is an ideal way to keep your mouth health and odorless.

Boost your Overall Health

Research has shown that there is a connection between oral health and general health. Regular teeth cleaning can help lower your risk of certain diseases, search as heart disease and stroke. Most medical conditions, some of them chronic, can be detected in their early stages by your dentist during a routine dental checkup.

Save Money

You can get the best value from your dental benefits. Most Delta dental plans have few or no copayments for teeth cleaning and dental exams. If you take advantage of your benefits, you will be in a position to save money in the long run by you helping to guard your dental health and avoiding more expensive and extensive procedures in the long run.

What are a Dental Crown or Bridge?

What are crowns & bridges?

Dental crowns & bridges are fixed prosthetic devices. Compared to removable devices such as denture that can be taken out for cleaning daily, Crowns & Bridges are cemented onto teeth or implants and only a dentist can remove them.1. How do Crowns Work?A crown is normally used to fully cover a damaged tooth. Apart from strengthening a damaged tooth, a crown can be used to enhance appearance, alignment or shape. A crown can also be fixed on tip of an implant to offer a tooth like shape and structure for proper function. Porcelain or ceramic crowns can be made such that it resembles the color of your natural teeth.

Other materials that can be used include metal alloys, ceramic and acrylic. These alloys are much stronger compared to other porcelain and can be recommended for back teeth. Porcelain bonded to a metal shell is usually used as it is both strong and attractive.A dentist can recommend a crown for the below situations:- Replacement of large filling when there are not enough teeth remaining- Guard a weak tooth from breaking- Fix a bridge- Cover a dental implant- Cover poorly shaped teeth or discolored teeth- Cover teeth that has undergone root canal treatment 2. How do Bridges Work?A bridge comes in handy when you are missing one or more teeth. Gaps formed by missing teeth in the long run make the remaining teeth to rotate or shift into the empty gaps, causing one to have bad bites. Have a look at Dentists Iowa City to see a complete line of dental procedures you may need.

The imbalance as a result of missing teeth can also cause gum disease and temporomandibular joint conditions. - Bridges are more often than not used to replace one or more missing teeth. They form a bridge on the space where there are teeth missing. Bridges are cemented to the natural teeth or implants surrounding the gap formed by missing teeth. The teeth, known as abutments, act as anchors for the bridge.

A replacement tooth referred to as pontic is fixed to the crowns that cover the abutments. When it comes to crowns, you can select the materials you want for the bridge. Your dentist can help you to decide on which one tom pick, being determined by the location of your missing teeth/tooth, its purpose, aesthetic considerations and cost of the material. Ceramic or Porcelain bridges can be matched with the color of your existing natural teeth.Your teeth will require time to heal after a crown and bridge placement procedure. So it is normal for you to feel sensitivity especially when it is hot or cold.

Oral Surgery - The do's and don'ts....

Oral Surgery written by: clarasin Oral dentistry refers not only to the treatment but also to the diagnosis of injuries and diseases related to the function and aesthetics of the mouth and surrounding tissues of the head. Oral surgery can mean minor or major procedures. They can generally be carried out as you sit in the dentist’s chair. Some common treatments performed by dental surgeons include apicoectomy (the root tip of a tooth is removed and the resulting cavity refilled),correcting the jaw, anesthesia administration, bone grafts, bone tissue surgery, facial trauma treatment, dental implants, wisdom teeth removal and treatment of TMJD (inflammation in the joint which connects the mandible and the skull).

This type of treatment is carried out by oral surgeons, who are typically known as €oral and maxillofacial surgeons’ in some parts of the world, such as Europe. They need to undergo additional training after obtaining a formal qualification in dentistry.Any surgery can be daunting, whether it is major or minor in nature. You would need to pay attention to aftercare and follow the dentist’s instructions carefully to avoid infections. If you are very sensitive to pain, you need to inform your dentist so that he can prescribe a strong painkiller that will make it possible for you to carry on your daily duties following the treatment.Oral surgery is frequently performed and with a high success rate.

So there is no need to be scared about the word €surgery’. The oral cavity is quite adept at quick healing so as long as you follow the surgeon’s orders, any results of surgery and your discomfort will disappear within a short time. Before treatment your surgeon will inspect your mouth and maybe even recommend a course of antibiotics to stop any infections. The time taken for the procedure can vary; for instance removing a wisdom tooth can be done in a matter of minutes, while bone grafts and TMJD treatments will take longer. There are many specialized dentists that can perform oral surgery with great success. Your family dentist may recommend the best person to you. It doesn’t hurt to ask your close friends about the dentists in Ballwin that are experienced in this field. Then when it’s time for the surgery you can be sure that you are in safe hands. Be sure to look to let the Iowa City Dentists take care of all your needs.

Anesthetics are regularly employed in oral surgery to relieve pain during the process and to ease the recovery process. Patients are given painkillers to stay comfortable once they go home after surgery. Sedation dentistry is another important aspect in oral surgery because many patients are anxious about what to expect.

When it comes to tooth extractions, one of the less complicated surgeries, many patients prefer to have bone-grafting material placed in the socket after the tooth is removed. This avoids shrinkage of the associated jawboneand reduces post treatment discomfort. Although tooth extractions are easy to perform, some patients have teeth with stubborn roots that just refuse to come out without breaking. This especially happens with wisdom teeth thatare situated at the back of your mouth. If breakage occurs, small pieces of the root will be lodged in the tooth socket and cleaning the area will be more time-consuming. In such a case, success depends on your dentist’s skill and experience.

If the situation calls for it, he may refer you to a surgical specialist. Therefore, make sure you select a good Board Certified dentist to provide high quality care. It is a long-term investment in your health.

Dental Implants - Dentists Iowa City

Dental Implants

Basically, these are artificial tooth roots which are placed into the jaw as a replacement tooth. Why have dental implants?Dental implants help to protect the health of the teeth. The process of balancing Tooth Bridge requires grinding away the sides of the missing teeth. This usually results into damage on the healthy teeth.

The customized teeth are attached to support the bridge and help in preventing healthy of the adjacent teeth from shifting if an empty space was to be left a long period of time. They are more predicable compared to other restoration and repair methods. Generally, implants have a reliable track of record of long term success outcomes. They are more predicable to replacing and repairing the missing teeth through removable appliances and bridgeworks.

Dental implants are generally fixed correctly and in place therefore can naturally fuse with the jawbone. The replacement implants are firm and don’t shift or move from the fixed position. There are no cavities associated with dentals implants. It has never been observed in an implant restored crowns to cause any cavities. Nevertheless, it is advisable to regularly visit a dentist for a check up to clean and maintain the care for the dental implants, mouth and gums on a daily basis. Same healthy procedures followed in natural tooth care should also be used.

Our mouth contains not just the teeth but also the tongue and the gum. Therefore proper oral hygiene involves keeping and maintain every day the three parts ;the teeth, the gum and the tongue 24 hour clean and healthy to prevent diseases such as those involved with gum commonly known as gum disease, bad breath which can be quite embarrassing as well as tooth decays. Dental Implants - What are they?

Dental Implants - What are they?:

Here is a little of the article to tease… “Dental implants help to protect the health of the teeth. ” Check it out.

Segmentation Ideas for Nonprofits and Member-Based Organizations

big-data-resized

What is one of the most valuable aspects of a member-based, nonprofit organization? Do you have a guess?

It’s the member database.

I’ve been part of the nonprofit world for many years, and even now in my position at a digital agency, I help nonprofits build website and marketing campaigns. So, I know that the member and donor database is immensely important to an organization.

What I also know is that when it comes to mailing lists and email segmentation, there is plenty of room for improvement. How can we take that member data and really use it to its full potential? I’m here to offer a few suggestions.

Creating Member Personas

The idea of member personas comes from buyer personas in the business world. Buyer personas are fictional characters based on your actual customers and target markets. You create buyers personas by dividing your customers into groups based on different attributes (like age, occupation, demographics, personalities). This is useful information for creating targeted marketing campaigns.

Nonprofits can use this same process to create member and donor personas. You might be reading this and already thinking about the different kinds of members your organization has.

Most donors will be members, but not all members will be donors, so it is important to make that distinction here. The ideas listed below for member list segmentation can also be used for donors.

Elements of Good Email List Segmentation

Many nonprofits use one or two properties for basic list segmentation, such as: Member, Donor, Non-donor.

This is a good start and you’re probably already there. When a fundraising letter goes out, you might send it to the entire Member and Donor lists.

But how can we strategically target our communications for better results?

You should understand the following when you set up a list:

  • Goal - your list should have a specific goal or campaign

  • Persona - know the attributes of the people you are targeting

  • Activity - narrow the list based on activity or inactivity

4 Example Email Lists for Members

Active Members

Goal: Provide members with tailored content to keep them engaged.

Activity Level:

  • Active members (attending events frequently, active online)

  • Semi-active members (occasional attendance or online contact)

Inactive Members

Goal: Provide contact and tailored content to reactivate uninvolved members.

Activity Level:

  • Inactive members (have not attended event in X weeks/months)

  • Past members (membership lapsed or about to lapse)

Members by Interest

Goal: Provide members with tailored content for special interests or age groups.

Persona based:

  • Interests - Events, exhibits, classes

  • Age groups - parents with young children, teens, millennials, retirees

Activity based:

  • Past attendance - have they attended these types of events in the past?

Member to Donor Track

Goal: Convert members to donors and retain current donors.

Activity Level:

  • Active to very active members

  • Volunteers

Creating Your Targeted List

Let’s use one of the above examples to discuss setting the criteria and creating an email list. I will use “Active Members.”

Every database will be different, so I can’t tell you exactly how to create your list. I will assume your member database has basic fields for filtering, such as name and contact information, member type, last donation or membership paid date, etc.

In order to create a list like “Active Members,” you will also need fields for establishing your activity criteria: event attendance date, donation date, volunteer date, membership renewal date, etc. The next step is to set up your criteria for what counts as an active member (activity within the past 12 months, for example).

Your list criteria should include:

  • First Name

  • Last Name

  • Email

  • Mailing Address

  • [Criteria for Activity Level]

Once your list is ready, you can begin developing the content for your targeted campaign, such as email marketing pieces and mailers.

Donors

You can do all of the above kind of segmenting with your donors, as well.

Additionally, think about ways to segment your donors by specific fundraising campaigns. Rather than sending a generic donor letter to a giant list, parse your giving campaigns into different lists.

For example, your organization wants to raise marketing funds for a new website or marketing software. Segment your list into those who might have particular interest in more technical ways of helping your organization or those who prefer anonymous donations. This might be more difficult to set up in a automated way, such as filtering by city or activity level, but would be worth the extra effort to think it through.

Conclusion

Keeping good track of your member data and setting up a usable database is so important. Equally important is how you harness that data and use it to get the best results for your organization.

Segmenting your members and donors into strategic email lists is a great way to personalize your communications. By keeping your emails specific to your target audience, you build trust and loyalty, and eliminate some aspects of donor fatigue. Your members will be more likely to read the email they receive from you because they know it will be relevant to their interests.

What Social Selling Isn't

prohibited_sign

This post originally appeared on the Sales section of Inbound Hub. To read more content like this, subscribe to Sales.

Just like anything shiny and new, social selling suffers from a fair amount of hype. And with hype comes misunderstanding.

Sales reps and leaders eager to embrace the next generation of selling tactics often jump in with both feet. While this enthusiasm is great, sometimes they dive in before they understand what social selling really is, or what they’re trying to achieve. This is a recipe for disaster.

So instead of another piece listing the benefits of social selling and the results that can be reaped through social selling tactics, I thought I’d combat some of the hype by writing on what social selling isn’t. Then business leaders can go in with a clear understanding of what they’re getting into — and what they’re not.

Social selling isn’t outsourcing to Marketing.

Social selling is about curating and sharing content. Since content is generally Marketing’s job, some companies think social selling falls under their jurisdiction. Wrong. How can salespeople connect with their buyers through social and become known as thought leaders when they’re not actually doing the work themselves?

Social selling isn’t about automation.

Setting up salespeople’s social accounts so the same piece of content is shared at the exact same time looks inauthentic and fake. Don’t do it.

Social selling isn’t a one-time event.

You can’t just share one article or favorite one buyer’s tweet and then be done with it. Social selling is a continuous journey. Salespeople must commit to infusing social media into their daily routines for social activity to have an impact on revenue.

Social selling isn’t immediate.

Don’t expect to see major results after one week. Social selling is a marathon, not a sprint.

Social selling isn’t about selling.

If you’re using the same hard sales tactics on social that you’ve always used, you’re doing it wrong. LinkedIn messages aren’t just another avenue to send your cold pitch to buyers. Social selling is about nurturing relationships over time. Connect with and socially surround your buyers.

Social selling isn’t modern trickery.

If done right, it’s about creating genuine relationships with people. Nothing tricky or underhanded about that.

Social selling isn’t the new channel for spam.

If you’re mass sending your cold email pitch through LinkedIn messages or Twitter DMs, you’re doing it wrong. Spam — regardless if it’s sent through email or social channels — is still spam. That’s just #SocialStupid.

Social selling isn’t cold calling.

It’s way more fun than that.

Social selling isn’t about sharing as much content as you can.

Nobody likes someone who won’t shut up, and it’s the same on social media. Social selling is just as much (if not more) about listening to buyers to discover their interests as it is about becoming an effective content curator and thought leader.

Social selling isn’t replacing face-to-face interaction.

In person meetings will never die in sales. But modern salespeople should strive to be in all the places their buyers are. And that includes social media as well as trade shows.

Social selling isn’t magic.

If your company has a lackluster product or service, social selling isn’t going to change that. Don’t expect it to.

Social selling isn’t stalking.

Don’t favorite, retweet, share, or comment on every single post someone puts out. That’s just creepy. Show a sustained interest without crossing the line into stalker territory.

Social selling doesn’t replace phone and email outreach.

It’s strictly additive.

Social selling isn’t about media.

Getting involved on a social platform for the sake of being seen on the platform doesn’t make sense. Don’t forget the “social” in social selling — networking and connecting with people should be the crux of your strategy.

Social selling isn’t right for everyone.

If your buyers aren’t on social, I’m not sure why you would need to be there. Be where your buyers are — whether that’s on social media platforms or groups, or somewhere else entirely.

How Grabble Is Changing the Face of Ecommerce

grabble changing face of ecommerce

We think it’s pretty cool when a company can offer something new to the ecommerce realm. Selling is nothing new, but we’re still exploring the vast possibilities available selling online. That’s why Grabble has us pretty excited. At the moment, this app is only available in the UK, but it’s coming to the U.S. later this year. And it’s seriously cool.

Why? Let’s take a look.

The Trend of Tinder

Dating app Tinder revolutionized the snap decision, didn’t it? Users are presented with a profile and can either swipe left to dismiss or right to explore further. Grabble thought this was a great idea—specifically because users save time they’d otherwise spend on items they know immediately aren’t for them.

With the Grabble app on your phone, you can shop the same way you date now. Fill out a short profile, then wade through the profiles of clothes that fit your preferences. Sometimes they’re exactly what you want; other times they can go straight into the bin, never to be seen again.

The Ease of Pinterest

What happens once you decide to “grab” something? This is where the app borrowed from another crazy trend: Pinterest. When you save something, it’s placed in a collection very much like a Pinterest board. On payday, users can go right back to their favorites and easily find the items they want to purchase right away. No more searching through dozens of ecommerce sites to find the one thing from each.

As with Pinterest, users can create their own collections to keep everything separate. Organized online shoppers have finally met their match! These collections are available on the app or on the website, so users can browse wherever they like and then shop wherever they’re comfortable.

The Communication of Individual Sites

Ecommerce companies that have their acts together often send out notifications when items are discounted, which prompts larger numbers of sales. Shoppers who find items through Grabble may never visit the website, which could cut the ecommerce company out of the communication. Fortunately, Grabble thought of everything.

When an item in a user’s collection goes on sale, that user will receive a notice. Savvy shoppers waiting for a great deal to make a move can then purchase, which benefits the brand, the app, and the buyer.

The Power of Data

One other benefit Grabble offers retailers and etailers that partner with the app is data. Glorious, useful data! See, shoppers on an ecommerce site let the company know which items are liked and which are discarded by favoriting or purchasing an item. What happens if the buyer finds those items from a third party?

Well, if that third party is Grabble, the brand can track metrics anyway. With the data from Grabble regarding the styles discarded and those saved to a collection let brands know where to focus their efforts.

Who’s excited to see Grabble change the way American ecommerce happens? The trend hits the States in March, and we’ll be ready.
